Moong-Toor Dal Amti

O.K I'm not a big fan of amti. Personally sweet amtis are not something I can eat everyday...but once in a while they do taste amazing. This one my aai (MIL) made and I particularly liked and I hope you do too.

Ingredients

Moong dal (1/2 cup), wash and soak for 30 minutes in water
Toor dal (1/4 cup), wash and soak for 30 minutes in water.
2-3 cups water
One onion, chopped
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp jeera
1 large pinch asofetida
1 tsp jaggery/gud
1tsp dhania jeera (corriander cumin) powder
1 tsp sambhar powder
2-3 cloves garlic sliced
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tbslp tomato paste
1 bunch chopped cilantro
salt to taste
1 tbslp oil

Method

Cook lentils in a pressure cooker or in a pot till tender and soft. Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafetida. When seeds sputter add garlic and onions. Fry till onions turn golden brown. Add tomato paste, ginger paste, dhania-jeera powder. Cook for about 5-10 minutes. Add lentils and water. Add salt and sambhar powder. Bring to a boil. Add chopped cilantro. Serve with chapattis.

I love Amti and remember eating it almost everyday at my neighbours house in Mumbai while growing up...I make it occasionally now but make it less authentic by cutting out the sweet - I know cheating :)

Interesting take on the recipe. I think amti should really have tamarind in it though... dried tamarind soaked in water for a while is good to use. I think you could replace the tomato with it. A little grated coconut is really nice too :)

Someone deleted a variety of links from solidfiles and depositfiles servers.

From now, we will use www.tinyurlalternative.com as our default url shortener, so every link will be there and visible for everyone.

You can pick out from many great short url address like:

kfc.ms easysharelink.info jumpme.info megauploadlink.info megavideolink.info mygamelink.info myrapidsharelink.info mytorrentlink.info myurlshortener.com mywarezlink.info urlredirect.info urlshrinker.info weblinkshortener.com youtubelink.info and many others.

They have above 60 other ready domains and the url shortener service work well for free without any registration needed.

So we think it is good notion and suggest you to use url redirect service too!

Thank you.
